The Mason County Central football squad fell short against Manistee Thursday night by a 46-6 margin.

The Chippewas started the scoring off with five touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 32-0 lead into the second stanza.

The Spartans were able to shut down Manistee in the second quarter, keeping the game at 32-0 at halftime.

The Chippewas added to their lead, with two touchdown runs in the third quarter to take a 46-0 advantage heading into the fourth.

Austin Hoffman put the Spartans on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run to close out the game scoring.

The Spartans were led on the ground by Hoffman, who rushed for 130 yards and one touchdown run, while Bruce Banks added nine carries for 33 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Zach Richardson and Zach Quinn paced the Spartans with three tackles apiece.

The Spartans are now 0-1 on the season and will host Whitehall next Thursday.
