The Montague football team allowed 22 unanswered fourth quarter points on Friday in a season opening 34-13 loss to Reed City.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 7-6 lead at halftime and led 13-12 heading into the final quarter before Reed City finished the game strong.

Bryce Stark scored on a 17-yard run with 10 minutes left in the second quarter to give Montague a 7-0 advantage.

Reed City scored 12 unanswered points to take a 12-7 lead before the Wildcats regained their lead with a four-yard scamper from Sebastian Archer with one minute left in the third quarter.

Montague led 13-12 heading into the final quarter.

The Coyotes closed out the contest on a 22-0 fourth quarter run.

Montague was led offensively by Archer with 164 passing yards on 10 completions and were paced defensively by Johnny Monette with 13 tackles.

The Wildcats will look to bounce back on Thursday at home against Shelby in their West Michigan Conference opener.
