Oakridge running back Leroy Quinn opened the season with a bang on Thursday, rushing for 212 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Eagles to a dominant 55-8 non-conference victory over Chippewa Hills.

Quinn helped the Eagles pull away in the first quarter, scoring the first three touchdowns of the game with runs of 5, 16 and 27 yards. Jackson Fri caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Koleman Wall, and Oakridge led 27-0 after one quarter.

The rout continued in the second quarter when Quinn added a 25-yard scoring run, Fri caught another 10-yard TD pass from Wall, and Jalen Hughes snagged a 24-yard scoring strike from Wall, putting the Eagles up 49-0 at halftime.

Quinn broke loose for an 84-yard touchdown burst in the third quarter, ending the Eagles’ assault. Chippewa Hills scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Wall completed 7 of 12 passes for 85 yards and three touchdowns.

Blake Masterman led the Oakridge defense with 6.5 total tackles. Fri added 5.5 while Jacob Danicek had 5.
