The North Muskegon football squad took care of the Mason Country Central 35-0 in a West Michigan Conference matchup on Friday night.

The Norseman came out hot in the first quarter, scoring three touchdowns, including two thrown by John Hayhurst to give the Norseman a 22-0 lead after the first stanza.

Hayhurst added his third touchdown of the game through the air in the second quarter to De’Shary Warren for 14 yards to increase North Muskegon’s advantage to 29-0 at the half.

The Norse closed out the scoring in the third quarter on a 35-yard connection from Hayhurst to Warren.

Hayhurst led North Muskegon with 161 passing yards on 4-for-6 passing and four touchdowns while Chandler Edwards added 151 rushing yards on nine carries and one score.

Warren was the leading receiver for the Norse with three catches for 95 yards and three touchdowns.

The Spartans were paced by Austin Hofmann with 68 rushing yards on 20 carries.

The Norseman improved to 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in conference play and will host Shelby next Friday.
