The Muskegon Big Reds scored 28 unanswered points in the second half to rally for a 49-21 win over East Grand Rapids Friday night.

The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the first quarter and leading 14-0 heading into the second quarter.

The Big Reds took notice in the second quarter, with quarterback  Cameron Martinez scoring on a three-yard run, and the PAT making the score 14-7.

After the Pioneers added another touchdown, Demario Robinson (77 yard run) and Hyrosha Wilson (35 yards) each found the end zone for the Big Reds, leaving the game tied 21-21 at halftime.

Muskegon took control in the second half.

Martinez broke loose for a 53-yard TD run to start the second half to give the Big Reds their first lead of the game. Wilson added a 58-yard score in the third to give the Big Reds a 35-21 advantage heading into the fourth.

A 73-yard scoring romp by Jeremiah Lockhart and 28-yard TD reception by Quenten Reynolds padded the lead for the Big Reds.

Martinez finished with 180 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns. Wilson totaled 108 yards on five carries with two scores.

Johnny Martin III paced the Muskegon defense with nine tackles while Lamarion Sherrill added eight.

Muskegon is now 3-0 on the season.
