The Spring Lake Lakers, behind a five-touchdown performance from quarterback Caleb Montgomery, came away with 38-8 victory Friday night over Coopersville in an O-K Blue contest.

Coopersville got off to a hot start in the first quarter with a seven-yard touchdown run to take an early 8-0 lead.

Montgomery answered with two rushing touchdowns, each from seven yards out, to give the Lakers a 14-8 lead after the first quarter.

Montgomery added another rushing touchdown, this one a 49-yard explosion, to expand the lead to 21-8.

Before the half was over, Matt Beiman made a 38-yard field goal and Montgomery found Mitch Payne with a 23-yard touchdown pass to put Spring Lake up 31-8 lead at the break.

For his final act, Montgomery found Aiden Carlson in the end zone for a 23-yard completion to give the Lakers their final advantage.

Montgomery led the Laker rushing attack with 224 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns, along with 91 passing yards and two touchdowns.
