Caden Broersma accounted for five touchdowns, including the game-winner in the final minute, to lead Mona Shores to a 49-42 win over Jenison in an O-K Black classic Friday night.

The Sailors led 42-26 in the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats came storming back. Quarterback Kyle Nott led his team down the field for a pair of touchdowns and two-point conversions to knot the game at 42-42 with 2:48 to play.

Broersma marched Mona Shores down the field and tallied his fourth rushing score on a 4-yard plunge with 17 seconds remaining to give the Sailors the 49-42 win.

The Sailors played most of the game with out star running back Sincere Dent, who injured his ankle in the second quarter. Dent did return for the final two drives and finished with 83 yards on 13 carries.

The win moves Mona Shores to 7-0 (4-0) and sets up a huge game against Muskegon (7-0, 4-0) that will decide the O-K Black title.

Broersma’s huge game led the Sailors as he ran for 134 yards and four touchdowns and was 8-9 passing for 125 yards and a score.

James Gilbert was his top target. The senior hauled in six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Tre Hatcher ran for 69 yards and a touchdown.

Keondre Pierce had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the second half. Jacob Wahlberg led the defense with 14 tackles. He also caught two passes for 32 yards.
