The Holton football team will be playing for a playoff berth in its final regular season game next week, after losing a tough game to LeRoy Pine River 29-22 on Friday.

The Red Devils trailed 14-0 at halftime and 23-7 after three quarters. Holton scored two touchdowns in the fourth and Pine River scored once, and the home team fell short.

Aaron Herron led Holton on offense, rushing for 118 yards on 24 carries and recording two touchdowns. Quarterback Drew Trygstad completed three of his eight passing attempts for 26 yards.

Kaleb Kitchka led the defense with 14 tackles while Herron added 12 tackles and one forced fumble. Austin Hawkins returned a kickoff for a Red Devil touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Holton, now 5-3 on the season, will have a final chance to get six wins and clinch a playoff spot when it travels to Tri-County next Friday.
