The Montague football team closed out the season with a 27-20 loss to Portland on Friday.

The Wildcats were led by quarterback Drew Collins, who threw for 161 yards on 12-for-22 passing and one touchdown.

Sebastian Archer rushed for 119 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown while Bryce Stark had 59 yards on the ground on 13 attempts and one score.

Montague’s Kenyan Johnston caught five passes for 94 yards and one touchdown.

The Wildcats were paced defensively by Brennan Schwarz and Mark Vanderleest with 11 tackles apiece.

Montague finished its regular season with a 7-2 record and a West Michigan Conference title.
