The Reeths-Puffer girls golf team finished second this weekend at the Division 2 state finals at Forest Acres West golf course at Michigan State University in East Lansing.

The Rockets finished with a two-day point total of 680. They finished 24 shots behind the state champion, Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern, which shot a 656.

Reeths-Puffer senior Karina Van Duinen finished eighth in the individual standings, shooting rounds of 83 and 76 for a 162 total. Van Duinen won the individual state title as a freshman, and finished in the top 10 all four years in the state finals.

Her younger sister, Karli VanDuinen, finished with a 168 (88-80), Avery Howard shot a 172 (86-86) and Abby Fansler finished with a 179 to round out Reeths-Puffer’s scores.

The Rockets finished the season as O-K Black conference champions, Division 2 regional champions and GMAA city tournament champions.

Kay Zubkus of Forest Hills Northern won the individual state title with a two-day score of 151.

DIVISION 4

North Muskegon just missed out on a state runner-up trophy, taking third place overall in the Division 4 state finals at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University in Allendale.
The Norse had a two-day total of 754 (381-373) behind runner-up Shepherd, which shot a 750 (396-381). Harbor Springs took the state title with a 730 (362-368).
Leading North Muskegon was senior Abby Grevel, who finished eighth overall in the individual standings with rounds of 89 and 86 for a 175 total.
Lindsay Bliss shot a 185 (89-96), May Gonzalez finished with a 195 (98-97) and Georgie Kersman shot a 208 (105-103) for the Norse.
DIVISION 3
In the Division 3 state finals, Spring Lake’s Hannah Klein finished eighth in the individual standings to lead the Lakers to a 12th place team finish with a 756 (391-365) at Forest Akers East at MSU.
Klein shot rounds of 88 and 78 for a total of 166. Phoebe Saunders (88, 89 – 177 ), Alana Sprague (109, 91 – 200) and Zoe Ruffing (106, 107 – 213) rounded out the Spring Lake scores.
Whitehall finished 16th with an 816 (413-403). The Vikings were led by Rylee Woodring (95, 93 – 188), LeeAnna Burns (102, 105 – 207), Kennedy Woodring (107, 101 – 208) and Vanessa Christensen (111, 104 – 215).
