The Whitehall soccer team dominated Montague in the first leg of the West Michigan Conference tournament on Wednesday. The Vikings advance to the semifinals to face Oakridge on Monday.

Tyler Brandel and Murray Andree both registered three goals to pace the Vikings. Richie Grow notched the seventh Whitehal goal. Denver Aguirre, Joseph Gonzales and Ian Homing each had two assists, while Brett Evans had one.

Sam Stevens had three saves in the net for Whitehall.

Hart 2, Shelby 1 – The Pirates came from behind to top the Tigers in the WMC tournament first round.

Shelby took an early lead on a goal by Guil Santos, assisted by Alvaro Avilez, just seven minutes into the game. Harts’s Ruben Perez tied the game with a goal before the half.

Juan Hernandez scored the winning goal on a corner kick that found its way to the top corner of the net.

Shelby outshot Hart 9-6 in the loss and falls to 8-6-2, 3-2-2 in conference play.
