The Orchard View boys basketball squad started its season on the right foot with a 60-52 non-league win over Kent City on Tuesday.
The Cardinals trailed 16-12 after the opening quarter and 32-27 at halftime. OV stormed back with a 16-10 third quarter run to take a 43-42 lead after three quarters before closing out the game on a 17-10 tear.
Keā€™ontae Barnes led OV with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Brady Bowen added 12 points and Davion Lane contributed with nine rebounds.
The Eagles were led in a losing effort by Eli Carlson with 22 points while Brenden Geers added 20.
RAVENNA 72, WELLSPRING PREP 44- The Bulldogs were paced by Jacob May with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Josh Cox added 10 points, six rebounds and four assists for Ravenna while Calvin Schullo chipped in with 10 points, seven rebounds and six steals.
FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 47, HOLLAND BLACK RIVER 34- The Eagles led 15-7 after the first quarter and had a 29-15 advantage at halftime.
Jacob McFarren paced Fruitport Calvary with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Luke Anhalt added 12 points and 14 rebounds.
BENZIE CENTRAL 48, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 39- The Spartans trailed 8-6 after the first quarter, 19-14 at halftime and 33-20 after three quarters. Jeffery Carrier led MCC with 24 points and 20 rebounds.
