The Holton football squad captured its first district title in school history on Friday night.

The Red Devils cruised past Decatur 34-7 in a Division 8 district final contest.

The game was scoreless after the first quarter, Holton led 13-0 at halftime and had a 27-7 advantage heading into the final stanza.

Holton opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run by quarterback Drew Trygstad to give the Red Devils a 7-0 lead.

Aaron Herron increased the Red Devils lead to 13-0 on a 26-yard touchdown run.

Decatur scored its lone touchdown in the third quarter to cut its deficit to 13-7.

The Red Devils closed out the scoring with 21 unanswered points on a six yard run by Herron, a two-run scamper from Derek Pouch and a nine-yard run from Herron.

Herron rushed for 158 yards while Pouch had 117 yards on the ground.

The Red Devils will host Mendon next weekend in the regional round.
