48 varsity basketball teams featured in LSJ's 2018-19 High School Basketball Preview

The 2018-19 High School Basketball Preview Section is now available!
This year’s boys and girls varsity basketball preview features North Muskegon’s TJ McKenzie and his grandfather Corteen Gooden on the cover. The two have been traveling to games together since McKenzie was four years old and Gooden hasn’t missed a single game yet.
Fans will also enjoy 48 team previews from 24 different high school basketball programs. There are also three more feature stories that accompany this year’s preview.
High Schools with boys and girls varsity team previews are: Fruitport, Fremont, Fruitport Calvary Christian, Grand Haven, Hart, Hesperia, Holton, Kent City, Ludington, Mason County Central, Mona Shores, Montague, Muskegon, Muskegon Catholic, Muskegon Heights, North Muskegon, Oakridge, Orchard View, Ravenna, Reeths-Puffer, Shelby, Spring Lake, Whitehall, and Western Michigan Christian,
Muskegon Big Reds girls basketball standout and Michigan State University commit, Alyza Winston is also in this year’s preview.
Reeths-Puffer basketball fans can read about the state of their boys basketball program. Coach Lance Johnson has taken the Rockets from an 0-20 season in 2015-16, to a more respectable display in 2017-18 and the direction keeps looking up in 2018-19.
The Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame is the area’s sports history institution that hosts its exhibit in the L.C. Walker Arena. The group puts on a holiday basketball tourney each season and this year the December 27 event will feature three local boys varsity teams: Muskegon, Reeths-Puffer and Mona Shores.
