Brandon Bussi has been a huge part of the Muskegon Lumberjacks success this season and it was no different on Friday night.
Bussi stopped all 26 shots faced to record his fifth shutout of the season, leading to a 4-0 win over the Omaha Lancers at the Ralston Arena in Nebraska.
The Lumberjacks are now 20-4 on the season, good for 40 points and first place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference. Muskegon currently has a 13-point advantage over second place Chicago in the standings.
Muskegon will face the Lancers on Saturday night in a rematch with puck drop slated for 8:05 p.m. EST.
The Lumberjacks opened the scoring with the lone goal in the first stanza from Igor Larionov at the 7:13 mark on the power play.
Muskegon increased its lead to 2-0 on a goal by Egor Afanasyev 5:19 into the second period.
The Lumberjacks closed out the scoring with two goals in the third period from Danil Gushchin at the 9:09 mark and Oliver MacDonald 13:18 into the final stanza.
Both teams recorded 26 shots apiece.
