The Ravenna girls basketball team recorded its first victory of the season, defeating North Muskegon 35-31 on Friday in a West Michigan Conference contest.
The Bulldogs were led by Analiese Postema and Veera Hautala with nine and eight points, respectively.
Ravenna trailed 7-6 after the first quarter and 14-13 at halftime before the taking a 22-21 advantage heading into the fourth stanza.
The Bulldogs closed the game on a 13-10 fourth quarter run.
Syann Fairfield paced the Norse with nine points.
The Bulldogs improved to 1-2 on the season and in conference play while the Norse fell to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in league competition.
West Michigan Conference
HART 42, SHELBY 33- The Pirates led 7-3 after the first quarter, 19-14 at halftime.
Shelby responded with a 15-9 third quarter run to take a slim 29-28 advantage heading into the final stanza.
The Pirates closed out the game with a 14-4 fourth quarter tear.
Tressa Swihart led the Pirates with 11 points.
The Tigers were paced by Kendall Zoulek with 18 points and 18 rebounds.
CSAA
MORLEY STANWOOD 49, HOLTON 28 – The Red Devils struggled defensively, trailing 14-5 after the first quarter, 34-11 at halftime and 45-18 after three quarters.
Kaylie Piper led Holton with eight points, while Kylie Gould added six and Haylee Brant chipped in with five.
The Red Devils fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
FREMONT 53, BIG RAPIDS 46 – The Packers had three players in double figures led by Natalie Johnson with 14 points along with six steals.
Calla Miller added 11 points while Chloe Shriver chipped in with 10 for Fremont. Paige Vandenberg led under the basketball with nine rebounds.
The Packers led 22-21 at halftime and trailed 34-32 heading into the final stanza.
Fremont closed out the game strong with a 21-12 fourth quarter run.
The Packers are now 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in league play.
