Mona Shores boys basketball team falls two points short in season opener with Holland

The Mona Shores boys basketball team dropped a 63-61 heartbreaker to Holland in its season opener on Tuesday.

The Sailors (0-1) held a 30-27 edge on the Dutch at halftime but were outscored 18-17 in the third quarter and 18-14 in the final stanza.

James Gilbert, who attended his first practice a week ago after the Sailors’ football run to the state finals, led Mona Shores with 21points.

Ben Rosenthal and Christian Johnson both chipped in nine points for the Sailors.
