The Muskegon boys basketball squad picked up a 55-44 win over Grand Rapids Union on Tuesday in O-K Black Conference action.
The Big Reds had a slim 13-11 lead after the first quarter and a 26-23 halftime advantage.
Muskegon expanded its lead to 42-34 through three quarters after a 16-11 tear during the third stanza.
Vern Nash paced the Big Reds with 18 points and four assists while De’Airrus Ware grabbed a team-high nine rebounds along with his nine points.
De Andre Carter chipped in with nine points for Muskegon.
COOPERSVILLE 63, RAVENNA 53 – The Broncos pulled away during the second quarter on a 17-8 run to take a 28-18 advantage at halftime.
The Bulldogs outscored Coopersville 20-18 during the third quarter but failed to narrow the gap.
Josh Cox had a team-high 13 points for the Bulldogs while Josh VanderWoude and Hunter Funk each added nine.
KENOWA HILLS 61, FRUITPORT 42 – The Trojans trailed 9-8 after the first quarter, 23-14 at halftime and 37-30 through three quarters.
Luke Mitchell led Fruitport with 11 points, while Ethan Flores added nine and Gavin Fisher chipped in with eight.
NORTH MUSKEGON 71, MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 43 – TJ McKenzie and Eric Rypstra each scored 17 points to pace the Norse to a non-league win.
The Norse jumped out to a 16-7 lead after the first quarter and led 35-22 at halftime.
North Muskegon carried a 53-38 lead into the fourth stanza.
DeShary Warren chipped in with 13 points for the Norse while John Hayhurst grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds.
Kevon Washington led the Tigers with 20 points.
North Muskegon improved to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play while the Tigers fell to 2-6 overall on the season.
FREMONT 65, NEWAYGO 46- The Packers finished strong, scoring 38 points during the last 12 minutes of play.
Fremont led 23-17 at halftime despite coughing up 10 first half turnovers.
The Packers were led by Braiden McDonald with 20 points and seven rebounds while Logan Karnemaat added 14 points while playing in limited time. Calvin Miller chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.
Fremont is now 7-1 on the season and 3-1 in league play.
SPRING LAKE 58, ALLENDALE 49 – The Lakers had the advantage early, leading 11-8 after the first quarter and 30-22 at halftime.
Spring Lake continued to play strong with an 11-4 third quarter run to add to its lead.
The Lakers were led by Kyle Wiresema with 20 points while Sam Negen followed with 19.
Spring Lake snapped its five game losing streak and is now 3-5 overall on the season and 1-1 in league action.
MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 57, HOLLAND CALVARY 44 – Jared Dugener’s 28-point and 10-rebound propelled the Crusaders to a non-league victory on Tuesday.
Muskegon Catholic had a 10-8 lead after the first quarter and went into halftime break with a 26-18 advantage.
The Crusaders increased their lead to 43-32 through three quarters.
Andre Watson II added 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists for MCC.
LUDINGTON 53, WHITEHALL 35 – The Orioles led 23-18 at halftime and increased their lead with a 10-0 run to start the second half.
Josh Laman led Ludington with 14 points while Riley Calhoun added 12.
The Vikings were paced by Ethan McKenzie with 13 points while Andrew Durbin contributed with seven.
ORCHARD VIEW 78, HESPERIA 36 – The Cardinal offense jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter and took a commanding 34-18 advantage going into the halftime break.
Orchard View went on a 21-4 run to start the second half and led 53-22 after three quarters.
Davion Lane paced the Cardinals with 17 points.
The Panthers were paced by Ashton Arnold with 13 points while Jacob Klemundt added another 12.
Hesperia fell to 0-8 on the season and is 0-3 in the CSAA Silver action.

REETHS-PUFFER 70, JENISON 51- The Rockets trailed 14-13 after the first quarter before scoring 27 second quarter points to take a 40-29 halftime advantage.
Reeths-Puffer extended its lead to 58-39 heading into the final stanza.
Emcee Williams and Josh Jordan led the Rockets with 16 points each.
Reeths-Puffer is now 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
GRAND HAVEN 45, WEST OTTAWA 34- The Bucs jumped out to a 25-18 halftime lead.
Casey Constant paced Grand Haven with 12 points while Bryce Taylor added 10.
The Bucs are now 6-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
