Fremont’s 6-foot-10 center Logan Karnemaat had a monster game on Friday, scoring 37 points, snagging 20 rebounds and registering seven blocks in the Packers’ 66-48 victory over Grant in CSAA action.
The Packers led Grant 16-9 after the first quarter and 30-21 at the half, but took control in the third quarter when they built their lead to 49-32.
The victory was the first for the Packers in Grant in seven seasons.
Carter Chase paced Grant with 19 points while Seth Schuitema added 11.
Fremont improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the CSAA Gold Division. The Packers are tied for first place with Reed City.
CSAA
KENT CITY 70, HESPERIA 30 – Eli Carlson scored 24 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead the Eagles to an easy conference victory.
Kent City led by 11 points after one quarter, then opened things up and led 35-13 at halftime.
Max Hudson added 12 points for the Eagles.
LAKES 8
MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 47, MANISTEE 34 – The Crusaders led from start to finish, with a lead growing as large as 17 points.
Jared Dugener produced nearly half of MCC’s offense, scoring 23 points with eight rebounds and four steals.
LUDINGTON 47, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 38 – The Orioles collected points from 10 different players in the conference victory.
Riley Calhoun highlighted the scoring with a career-high 14 points for the Orioles.
WMC narrowed its deficit to three points in the third quarter, but came up short in the end. The Warriors were led by Owen Varnado with 10 points.
O-K RED
HUDSONVILLE 41, GRAND HAVEN 29 – Grand Haven trailed the Eagles 8-4 following the first quarter, 15-9 after the second, and 30-18 at the third buzzer.
Casey Constant led the Bucs with nine points and Drew Sinke added eight.
Grand Haven fell to 6-1 overall with a 1-1 conference record. Hudsonville improved to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
O-K BLUE
COOPERSVILLE 60, SPRING LAKE 47 – Coopersville converted 13 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to solidify a victory over Spring Lake.
The Lakers trailed throughout the game, except for a brief moment with six minutes left, when they led 40-39. The Broncos ended the game with a 21-7 run.
Cayden Ball had nine points for Spring Lake and Grant Kieft accounted for eight.
Spring Lake is now 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the O-K Blue.
ALLIANCE LEAGUE
POTTERS HOUSE 74, FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 22 – Calvary fell behind 22-6 after one quarter and couldn’t recover.
Zach Zehr paced the Eagles with seven points, despite playing injured. Ben Clark tossed in 20 points for Potters House.
Fruitport Calvary is now 4-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.
WEST MICHIGAN D
PENTWATER 58, MASON COUNTY EASTERN 47 – The trio of Glenn Miller, Khole Hofmann, and Austin Hofmann scored 56 of the Falcons’ 58 points.
Miller led the way with 21 points and 14 rebounds, Khole Hofmann added 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Austin Hoffmann had a strong showing with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Falcons are now 4-4 on the season and will host Hesperia on Monday.
