The Hesperia boys basketball squad earned its first win of the season on Wednesday, beating White Cloud 41-38 in the Division 3 district semifinals.

The Panthers are now 1-19 on the season overall and they overcame an early 13-0 deficit.

Hesperia trailed 13-4 after the first quarter and 16-14 at halftime.

The Panthers continued to trim their disadvantage, outscoring White Cloud 13-4 in the third quarter to take a 27-20 lead heading into the fourth.

The Indians tried to make a run during the final stanza but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback.

Jacob Klemundt led the Panthers with 15 points while Ashton Arnold chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.

The Panthers will move on to face district host Hart on Friday in the Division 3 district finals.
