The Muskegon boys basketball team overcame a slow start, defeating Grand Rapids Union 68-42 on Wednesday in Division 1 district semifinals contest.

The Red Hawks got out to an 8-7 lead after the first quarter but the Big Reds were able to claim the lead before the halftime with a slim 21-20 advantage.

The Big Reds offense came alive in the second half, outscoring the Red Hawks 47-22 and cruising to the win.

Vern Nash and Deā€™Andre Carter led the Big Reds with 14 points apiece while Billy Roberts chipped in with 12.

Muskegon will face Reeths-Puffer Friday night in a Division 1 district finals.
