The Ludington boys basketball team overcame an early deficit and managed to sneak past Cadillac 35-29 on Friday to claim a Division 2 district championship on their home court.

Cadillac led 5-1 in the early minutes, then the Orioles responded by scoring the next 13 points, and led 14-5 midway through the second quarter.

Ludington held on from there, leading 14-10 at halftime and 23-19 after three quarters. Josh Laman played a key role for the Orioles, scoring eight of his 14 points in the second half to help Ludington hold on. Freshman Peyton LaCombe also had two key buckets in the fourth.

The Orioles, now 11-10 on the season, advance to Tuesday’s regional semifinals at Cadillac against Standish-Sterling Central at 7 p.m.
