The Muskegon girls basketball team overcame a slow start and defeated Grand Rapids Union 52-22 on Wednesday in Division 1 district semifinal play.
The Big Reds led 9-6 after one quarter then blanked GR Union 14-0 during the second
quarter to take a 25-6 halftime lead.
Muskegon outscored the Red Hawks 27-16 in the second half to cruise for the win.
Alyza Winston led the Big Reds with 13 points while De’shonna Day added nine of her own.
Muskegon improved to 16-5 on the season and will play Reeths-Puffer on Friday in the district finals.
