The Atlanta Hawks announced in a press release on Monday that they’ve signed Muskegon High School grad and former Mr. Basketball Deyonta Davis to a multi-year contract.
Contract details were not released.
Davis spent the majority of the 2018-2019 season with the Santa Clara Warriors, the G-League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors, where he averaged 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds while starting all 43 games he appeared in.
On March 19, Davis was signed by the Atlanta Hawks to the first of what became two 10-day contracts. On March 29 Davis was signed to a second 10-day contract.
In his time with the Hawks, Davis is averaging 4.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 14.4 minutes while shooting .682 from the field in eight games.
The Hawks will end their season on Wednesday when they host the Indiana Pacers.
Davis spent the two previous seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. He averaged 1.6 points per game in his rookie syear before increasing to 5.8 points per game in his second season.
In the summer of 2018 Davis was traded from Memphis to Sacramento, where he was eventually cut, before signing with the Golden State Warriors and playing for their G-League affiliate in Santa Clara.
According to Brad Rowland of Locked on Hawks, a daily Atlanta Hawks podcast, Davis is expected to be part of the Hawks’ summer league team.
