The West Michigan Whitecaps won for the second straight day at Great Lakes, defeating the Loons 4-3 on Tuesday night.

In the third inning, the Whitecaps took a 1-0 lead when Parker Meadows brought home Reece Hampton on a bunt single.

Later in the inning, Sam McMillan brought home Meadows on an RBI single, extending the Whitecaps lead to 2-0.

Great Lakes responded trying the game at 2-2 in the fifth inning on an RBI double by Dillon Paulson and an RBI single by Chris Roller.

In the sixth inning, Jose King hit an RBI single to score McMillan, giving the Whitecaps a 3-2 lead. Later in the inning, Hampton singled home King, making the score 4-2 in favor of West Michigan.

The Loons scored one run in the eighth inning but ultimately the Whitecaps held on for the 4-3 win.

Hampton, Meadows, Jordan Pearce and King all had two hits to lead the Whitecaps offense on Tuesday while Hampton and King each added an RBI of their own.

Starting pitcher Gio Arriera picked up the win, allowing two runs on four hits while also striking out four batters. Jose Vasquez picked up his first save of the year, striking out two batters in a clean ninth inning.

The Whitecaps are now 8-9 on the season, two and a half games behind Lake County for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
