The Whitehall girls soccer team took a two-goal lead, lost it, then got a late goal to defeat Fruitport 3-2 in a tight non-conference battle on Thursday.

Maggie Evans had two goals for Whitehall while Emma Thompson had one. Kacy Jeffries and Rileigh Thommen each had an assist.

The Vikings are now 6-2 on the season.

O-K BLACK

MONA SHORES 6, KENOWA HILLS 1 –  A second-half surge made the difference for the Sailors.

Bri Wade recorded Mona Shores’ only first half goal, with the assist coming from Julia Tierman. Nora Brown scored two second-half goals for the Sailors while Caitlin McCombs, Annie Anderson and Tierman each had one apiece. Tierman, Wade, Emilee Carlson, Madelyn Anderson, Mieke Hart and Sydney Fetters each had assists.

Mona Shores is now 5-1-2 overall and 5-0 in the o-K Black.

NON-CONFERENCE

RAVENNA 1, GRANT 1 – Isabel Hammond recorded the lone goal for Ravenna with Pilar Ibanez getting the assist. Ravenna goalkeeper Bailey Walker recorded 11 saves. The Bulldogs are now 6-4-1 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

FREMONT 0, SHELBY 0 – Despite outshooting Shelby 16-1, the Fremont girls soccer team was unable to find the back of the net Thursday night. Goalkeeper Lexi Schultz recorded all 16 saves for Shelby while Audrie Johnson made the one save for Fremont

Fremont is now 4-2-3 overall and Shelby is 1-5-2.

FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 2, AVIATION ACADEMY 2 – Fruitport Calvary took the lead with a goal from Madison Hoofman, assisted by Bree Johnson. Aviation scored twice to take the lead into halftime. Johnson scored the tying goal in the second half, with an assist from Emily May. Goalkeeper Jordan Miller had six saves for Calvary, which is now 5-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.
