Johnny Monette and Nick Stever each drove in a run in the seventh inning, breaking a tied game and giving Montague a 3-1 victory over Ravenna on Tuesday in West Michigan Conference baseball.

Luke Marsh pitched a complete-game victory for Montague in Game 1, giving up three hits, no earned runs and striking out six.

In Game 2, Ravenna led 3-2 after three innings before the Wildcats erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fourth and cruised to a 12-3 win and the doubleheader sweep.

Stever pitched a complete game for the Wildcats, giving up two earned runs on six hits and striking out four. Stever helped his own cause at the plate with three RBIs while Mark Vanderleest added two triples and four RBIs.

Montague is now 8-2 on the season and 4-0 in conference play.

O-K BLACK

FRUITPORT 6-4, GR UNION 2-1 – Jerod Avery was the winning pitcher for the Trojans in Game 1, going 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs and striking out eight. Jayme Woodring came in for the save and struck out all four batters he faced.

Luke Mitchell led the Trojans at the plate with three hits while Landon Doctor chipped in two RBIs.

Fruitport’s Brodie Boes got the win in the nightcap, tossing four innings while striking out five. Woodring came in for the save once again, pitching an inning and striking out one batter.

Matt Lord drove in two runs for the Trojans. Ross, Jakob Carlisle and Nick Kleinhecksel each had two hits.

CSAA

HOLTON 3-11, LAKEVIEW 1-7 – Nathan Slowik had a strong performance on the mound in Game 1 for the Red Devils, throwing a complete game while allowing four hits and striking out eight.

Slowik helped his own cause at the plate, racking up two hits, scoring two runs and driving in a run. Christian Cooper also drove in a run.

The Red Devils didn’t start out as hot in Game 2, trailing 6-1 after three innings. But they outscored the Wildcats 10-1 the rest of the way to come away with the sweep.

Cody Wright pitched in relief and got the win, going three innings and allowing just one run on three hits. Slowik was hot again at the plate, tallying three hits with three RBIs and stealing two bases.

Holton improved to 6-6 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.

KENT CITY 5-16, HESPERIA 0-3 – Hesperia struggled in the conference doubleheader.

Pitcher Logan Balkema took the loss in Game 1, but only gave up one earned run while scattering six hits and striking out six. River Montague had two hits for the Panthers.

Jacob Klemundt had two hits for Hesperia in the nightcap.

The Panthers are now 1-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

NON-CONFERENCE

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 8-5, GR COVENANT CHRISTIAN 6-0 – Nathan VanderWeide was the winning pitcher in Game 1 with Jameson Goorman getting the save.

Goorman, Nick Moser, Carson VanHekken and Micah TerHaar each tallied multiple hits for the Warriors.

Michael Kamps was strong in Game 2, helping the Warriors sew up the sweep by striking out five batters. Sam Liggett paced the WMC offense with two doubles while Moser scored two runs.
