The Spring Lake softball squad held on to an 8-5 league win over Grand Rapids West Catholic on a rainy Tuesday.

Alicia Mumby and Janna Ercole hit back-to-back doubles to ignite a three-run fourth inning, while Leah Vaughan tripled and Jenna Core hit a two-run homer in the seventh frame.

The Falcons tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs but fell short of a comeback.

Spring Lake is now 14-2 overall on the season and 6-0 in conference play.

HOLTON 7, HESPERIA 3- Kylie Gould pitched the victory for the Red Devils, striking out 12 batters. Gould also had four hits offensively, including two doubles.

Gianna Reed also tripled for Holton and Kennedy Greene hit her first career homerun.

The Panthers were led by Lynnsey Tinkham with a hit and two RBIs.

Game 2 of the doubleheader was called during the fourth inning with the Red Devils leading 7-5. The game will be finished at a later date.

Holton is now 11-2 overall on the season while the Panthers are now 5-6 on the year.

HART 12, SHELBY 2- The Pirates won in a five-inning mercy ruled West Michigan Conference contest.

Finley Kistler picked up the win from the mound, striking out five batters in four scoreless innings.

Kloe Dumonte had two hits for Hart, including a two-run homerun, while Cassidy Copenhaver, Skylar Smith and Myryssa Hopkins each had two hits apiece.
