In the sixth inning, Jordan Pearce walked which scored Sam McMillan giving the Whitecaps a 2-0 lead.
Lansing responded with two runs in the top of the seventh which tied the score at 2-2.
In the top of the 10thinning, Lansing scored four runs which gave the Lugnuts a 6-2 lead that held for the final score.
Jeremiah Burks led the Whitecaps with two hits on the night while Ames had one hit and an RBI.
Starting pitcher Garrett Hill took a no-decision, allowing only two hits and striking out eight in five innings of work.
Reliver Yaya Chentouf took the loss, allowing three earned runs on four hits over two innings of work.
The Lugnuts and Whitecaps will continue their series on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at West Michigan.
