The West Michigan Whitecaps lost their fifth straight home game with a 8-2 loss to Lansing on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Whitecaps closed out their homestand without a victory and fall to 5-8 on the year overall, three games behind Lake County for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

The Whitecaps fell behind early on Wednesday, allowing one run in the first, two runs in the second and three runs in the third, making the score 6-0.

In the home half of the third, Jordan Pearced singled home Jose King making the score 6-1 in favor of the Lugnuts.

Lansing then added one run in the fourth and one run in the eighth, extending their lead to 8-1.

West Michigan scored in the eighth inning when Jose King singled home Ulrich Bojarski, making the score 8-2.

King led the Whitecaps offense with two hits and a RBI while Avery Tuck and Bojarski each had two hits of their own.

The Whitecaps will travel to Fort Wayne on Thursday to begin a three game-series with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
