Matthew Johnson pitched a complete-game victory in the Ravenna baseball team’s 4-2 victory over North Muskegon on Tuesday in a Division 3 pre-district game at Kent City High School.

Johnson had eight strikeouts and did not walk anybody in the win.

Hunter Funk had three RBIs and Dom Jones knocked in one run for the Bulldogs. Jack Emery was walked three times, and matched those walks with three stolen bases.

Kevin Ritz had two hits and scored a run while Connor Killbourne and Thomas McCullough each had single hits and scored a run.

Ravenna advances to Saturday’s district semifinals on Saturday at 10 a.m. against host Kent City. The winner will advance to the finals later that afternoon.

DIVISION 1

MONA SHORES 17, MUSKEGON 0 -The Sailors took home a resounding victory against the Big Reds in a Division 1 pre-district game.

In the shortened game, Mona Shores pitcher Andrew Moss retired all nine batters he faced, striking out six of them. Moss had a perfect game going through three innings.

Grant Hylland had two hits and three RBIs while Aaron Piasecki had two hits and scored three runs for the Sailors.

Mona Shores, now 25-7 on the season, will face Grand Haven on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the district semifinals at Grand Haven.

WEST OTTAWA 8, REETHS-PUFFER 1 – The Panthers raced out to an early lead in the second inning, and Reeths-Puffer couldn’t recover.

Kaleb Mitchelson pitched five innings for the Rockets, striking out two and giving up no earned runs in the loss. Cam Douglas knocked in the lone run  for the Rockets, driving in Will Benner.

The Rockets finished their season with a 17-12-1 record.

DIVISION 2

ORCHARD VIEW 6, GRANT 4 – The Cardinals narrowly defeated Grant in Division 2 pre-district play, powered by the bat of Dayton Rose, who had three hits and two RBIs.

Chase Keller got the victory on the mound for Orchard View with 10 strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. Keller and Brady Bowen also had multiple hits.

OV now moves on to play Fruitport on Saturday at noon in the district semifinals at Oakridge High School. The winner will advance to the finals later that day.

DIVISION 3

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 5, MONTAGUE 2 – Brant Zeerip had a big night for WMC, pitching five innings and getting the win on the mound, and collecting three hits and knocking in two runs.

Nathan VanderWeide had two hits for WMC, Jameson Goorman added a double and two RBIs, Ben Garretson and Michael Kamps each hit doubles and Nick Moser drove in a run.

Kamps also pitched two innings of relief to earn a save.

WMC advances to play Newaygo at noon on Saturday in the district semifinals at Kent City High School. The winner will play in the finals that afternoon.

HART 8, WHITE CLOUD 6 – The Pirates advanced to the district semifinals after a scrappy victory over White Cloud.

Matthew Robbins had two hits for Hart, including a triple that produced two runs. Jayden VanderZwaag contributed two hits while Rece Schulkebir also chipped in with a two-hit effort.

Leo McCulley earned the win on the mound while pitching in relief.

Hart, 13-16 on the season, will play Hesperia on Saturday in Manistee for a chance to compete in the district finals later that day.

DIVISION 4

HOLTON 2, ZION CHRISTIAN 1 – Nathan Slowik led the Red Devils on the mound, pitching a complete-game victory. He had nine strikeouts while giving up six hits and no walks. Slowik also contributed with two hits at the plate.

Austin Fowler had two hits and scored both runs for the Red Devils. Drew Trygstad bunted in the winning run in the fourth inning.

Holton will host Muskegon Catholic at noon on Saturday in the district semifinals. The winner will play in the district finals later that afternoon.
