The Oakridge baseball team defeated Whitehall 7-1 on Tuesday in a Division 2 pre-district game at home.

In the first inning, Jalen Hughes started the Eagles offense with a base hit before stealing second and third base and coming home to score on a throwing error.

Later in the inning, Koleman Wall hit a two run home run that gave Oakridge a 3-0 early lead.

Wall dazzled on the mound, allowing one run and striking out 13 before Ethan Miller pitched the final two innings.

Hughes led the Oakridge offense with three hits while Austin Fairchild and Jaxson Fri each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Connor Young scored the lone Whitehall run in the game.

Oakridge will next face Fremont at home on Saturday at 10 a.m. in a Division 2 district semifinal.

SHELBY 5, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 0 – A big third inning helped the Shelby baseball team defeat Mason County Central in a Division 3 pre-district game.

Already leading 1-0, the Tigers added three runs in the third inning when Matt Felt doubled home Ben Kelley, Nick Felt and Tristan Landis making the score 4-0.

Matt Felt and Landis each had two hits to lead the Tiger offense while pitcher Chris Beyer picked up the win, throwing a complete game shutout. Beyer struck out five and allowed five hits.

Shelby will next face district host Manistee on Saturday at 10 a.m. in a district semifinal.
