The Ludington girls soccer team defeated Montague 3-2 on Wednesday night in the first round of Division 3 district play.

Goal scorers for the Orioles were Abi Bandstra, Sophia Cooney and Anna Wietrzykowski. Bre Mesyar, Aubrey Pamorski and Katrina Lesinski all had assists for Ludington.

With the win, Ludington improves to 9-9-1 overall and will next face Whitehall on Tuesday in the Division 3 district semifinals at home.

Division 2

ORCHARD VIEW 1, NEWAYGO 0 – Orchard View used a strong defensive effort to defeat Newaygo in the first round of Division 2 district play.

Lily Johnson had the lone goal of the night, scoring on a first half penalty kick.

With the win, Orchard View advances to play Grand Rapids West Catholic in the Division 2 district semifinals at Oakridge on May 29.

Division 3

WHITEHALL 5, MANISTEE 0 – Whitehall used two strong halves of soccer in a opening district round victory.

Maggie Evans and Emma Thompson each two goals to lead the Whitehall attack while Kendall Mott had one goal.

Evans, Rileigh Thommen and Thompson each had one assists.

Goalkeeper Sadie Vanguilder faced seven shots in the victory.

Whitehall is now 16-3 on the season and will face Ludington on Tuesday in the Division 3 district semifinals.

Division 4

RAVENNA 5, FRUITPORT CALVARY 1 – The Ravenna girls soccer team used a 3-0 second half advantage to take down Fruitport Calvary Christian in the first round of district play.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Cate Anhalt found the back of the net.

Ravenna responded with three goals from Pilar Ibanez and two goals from Alexys Shimmel to pick up the victory.

Taylor Erffmeyer had two assists for Ravenna and Skylar Hogan added one assist.

Bulldog goalkeeper Bailey Walker had four saves, helping the Bulldogs improve their record to 13-7-1 on the season.

Ravenna will next play Western Michigan Christian in the Division 4 district semifinals at North Muskegon on Tuesday.

NORTH MUSKEGON 6, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 0 – Gwenna Pitts led the Norse with two goals and an assist in the Division 4 district opening round victory.

Reyna Johnson, Ayla Pitts, Abby Grevel and Hope Johnson also scored goals in the victory.

Picking up assists for the Norse were Pitts and Sophie Mueller with two. Grevel also had one assist in the victory.

North Muskegon will next face Lakeview in the Division 4 district semifinals at North Muskegon on Tuesday.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 8, HART 0 – Sydney Betten and Anna Sytsema each had two goals to lead the Warriors in a Division 4 opening round victory.

Other goal scorers for the Warriors were Morgan Kinnucan, Adayla Liggett, Haley Breuker and Grace Sytsema.

Emily Rosema had two assists for Western Michigan Christian while Anna Sytsema, Liggett, Ashley Binnendyk and Kinnucan had one.
