The West Michigan Whitecaps blew a two run ninth inning lead on Monday in 5-4 home loss to Bowling Green.
The Whitecaps took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on Monday when Avery Tuck scored on a passed ball and John Valente singled home Jose King.
Bowling Green responded with one run in the fifth and one run in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2.
In the eighth inning, Ulrich Bojarski singled home Valente and Reynaldo Rivera doubled home Sam McMillan to give the Whitecaps a 4-2 lead.
Bowling Green responded with three runs in the top of the ninth to ultimately take a 5-4 lead which was the final score.
Valente led the Whitecaps offense with three hits and one RBI while Bojarski added two hits and one RBI.
The Whitecaps are now 17-26 overall on the season and 10 games behind Great Lakes for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
The Whitecaps will take on Bowling Green at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday in the second game of a four game series.
