The West Michigan Whitecaps lost their second straight game, falling 6-4 to Peoria on Wednesday afternoon.

Parker Meadows gave the Whitecaps a 2-0 lead in the first inning when he singled home Reece Hampton and Wenceel Perez.

After Peoria scored two in the top of the fourth, West Michigan responded with a run in the home half of the inning. Sam McMillan scored on a Peoria throwing error, making the score 3-2.

Trailing 6-3 in the eighth inning, John Valente hit a sacrifice fly to score Hampton, making the score 6-4.

Jordan Pearce led all Whitecap hitters with three hits while Hampton had two hits and two runs scored.

The Whitecaps are now 14-17 overall on the season and four and a half game behind Great Lakes for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

On Thursday, the Whitecaps will open a home series with Cedar Rapids with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
