The West Michigan Whitecaps fell 4-3 to Great Lakes on Friday night in the third game of a five game home series.

The Whitecaps took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when a Jose King sacrifice fly scored Dayton Dugas.

However, Great Lakes scored four runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, King scored on a wild pitch and John Valente scored on a RBI ground out by Ulrich Bojarski, making the score 4-3 which was ultimately the final score.

Christopher Proctor led the Whitecaps with two hits on the night while King had one hit and one RBI.

Starting pitcher Wilkel Hernandez took the loss, allowing four earned runs on six hits over six innings. Hernandez also struck out five.

The Whitecaps are now 17-23 overall on the season and seven games behind Great Lakes for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

Great Lakes and West Michigan will continue their series on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
