Pitcher Chris Beyer pitched a complete-game shutout on Monday, leading the Shelby baseball team to an 8-0 victory over Hesperia in a Division 3 district championship game.

Shelby opened the scoring in the first inning. Nick Felt singled, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch, then Travis Landis drove him home with a sacrifice fly.

In the fourth Inning, after Simon Payne singled and Gage Landis reached on an error, Ben Kelley drove home a run on a fielder’s choice play to increase the Tigers’ lead to 4-0.

In the top of the seventh, Ben Kelley singled, Felt was hit by a pitch, then Tristan Landis executed a perfect drag bunt with the bases loaded to score a run. Matt Felt followed with a long double to center field to drive in two runs. Beyer followed that up with an RBI on another fielder’s choice play, ending the scoring.

Shelby will play in a regional semifinal game against Beaverton on Wednesday on Beaverton’s home field.
