The Muskegon Clippers fell behind early and couldn’t manage to recover in a 15-6 loss to the Lima Locos on Friday night in their first road game of the season.

The Clippers, who are now 2-2 overall on the season, fell behind 9-0 through three innings.

Muskegon cut its deficit to 9-3 in the fourth inning and 10-5 during the top of the seventh, but the Locos responded with three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth frame.

The Clippers were led offensively by Cooper Peterson with two hits and two RBIs, while Jimmy Allen added two hits and Mike Malewitz knocked in two runs.

Brian Martin suffered the loss from the mound for Muskegon, allowing seven runs on five hits in one inning pitched.

The Clippers will look to bounce back on Saturday against the Locos in the second game of the three-game set.
