The Shelby baseball team’s state tournament run ended on Wednesday with a tough 18-1 loss to Beaverton in the Division 3 regional semifinals.

The game was originally supposed to be played in Beaverton, but a heavy rain prompted the teams to move the game to Gladwin High School.

Beaverton, a state-ranked team, piled up 12 hits over five innings, and Shelby committed six errors.

Nick Felt, Tristan Landis and Logan Michalko each had hits for Shelby, while Matt Felt knocked in a run in the first inning with a sacrifice fly.

Shelby finished the season with a 12-28 record, but won a district championship along the way.
