The West Michigan Ironmen ended their season on a sour note on Saturday night in the American Arena League semifinals.

The Ironmen offense struggled to put points on the board as West Michigan fell to the West Virginia Roughriders 45-6.

The Roughriders advanced to the AAL championship game, which will be played in two weeks.

West Michigan posted a 4-1 regular season record plus an exhibition victory against the Muskegon Mustangs, then opened the playoffs last weekend with an easy win over the Indianapolis Enforcers.

The Ironmen trailed 12-0 at the end of the first quarter, 32-6 at halftime and 39-6 heading into the final stanza.

West Michigan’s lone touchdown was scored on a pass from Michael Whitley to Daryl Gooden.
