The West Michigan Whitecaps dropped their third straight game to open the second half of the season, falling 5-2 to Lake County on Saturday.

Lake County took a 5-0 lead after two runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning.

The two Whitecaps runs came in the eighth inning when Ulrich Bojarski tripled home Zach Malis and Nick Quintana.

Bojarski led the Whitecaps offense with two hits and two RBIs while Malis also had two hits on the night.

The Whitecaps are now 21-51 overall on the season and 0-3 in the second half, three games behind Lake County for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

On Sunday the two teams will complete their four-game series with first pitch scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
