The West Michigan Whitecaps offense came alive for 20 hits on Wednesday in a 15-1 home victory over Dayton, marking the second straight win for the Whitecaps.

In the first inning, Dayton scored one run but the Whitecaps responded with four runs of their own to take a 4-1 advantage.

In the second inning, the Whitecaps scored another four runs to take a 8-1 lead before scoring two more runs in the third to extend the lead to 10-1.

The Whitecaps offense wasn’t done however, scoring one run in the fifth and four more runs in the sixth inning to take a 15-1 lead which was ultimately the final score.

Zach Malis hit a three run home run to help power the Whitecaps offense while Christopher Proctor added five hits, three runs and two RBIs of his own. Nick Quintana and Hector Martinez added two hits and two RBIs each for West Michigan.

The Whitecaps are now 23-52 on the season and 2-4 in the second half of the season, three games behind Lake County in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

The Whitecaps and Dayton will continue their series on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
