The West Michigan Whitecaps blew a chance for their first win in the second half of the season on Sunday, falling 7-6 to Lake County.

West Michigan held a 6-2 lead on Sunday before ultimately losing their fourth straight game and being swept by Lake County.

After falling behind 2-0, the Whitecaps first run came in the fifth inning when Parker Meadows singled home Ulrich Bojarski.

In the sixth inning, Bojarski walked which scored Christopher Proctor and Zach Malis hit a grand slam, scoring Andre Lipcius, Nick Quintana and Bojarski. The Whitecaps held a 6-2 lead after the top of the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Lake County scored three runs to cut the Whitecaps lead to 6-5.

In the ninth inning, back-to-back home runs from Miguel Jerez and Jonathan Engelmann gave Lake County a walk-off victory over West Michigan.

Malis led the Whitecaps with one hit and four RBIs on the day while Bojarski added one hit and one RBI of his own.

The Whitecaps are now 21-52 overall on the season and 0-4 in the second half.

On Tuesday, the Whitecaps will open up a four game home series versus Dayton with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
