In the world of track and field, there might not be a more fascinating event to watch than pole vaulting. Add in Grand Haven City Beach and that’s all fans need for a perfect summer day.

Grand Haven Beach Vault took over the city beach on Saturday with top-notch pole vaulters from around the midwest.

Dozens of athletes competed in the two-day event, ranging in ages from 11 to 67.

Allendale’s Jacob Battani cleared the highest bar on the weekend with a 16-6 vault, winning the Elite Men’s division.

Michigan State’s Hannah Sailar reached the top height for all women, winning the Elite Women’s division with a 13-6 vault.

The youngest competitor of the weekend was Caledonia’s Reece Emeott who cleared 6-6. The elder of the group was Saginaw’s Roland Jersevic who is 67 years old and cleared 7-9.
