A big first half propelled the Oakridge soccer team to a 3-2 non-conference victory over Grant on Wednesday, the Eagles’ first win of the season.

The Eagles drew first blood with a Dylan Lucas goal and led 1-0 just 34 seconds into the game.

After Grant tied it up at 1-1, Gavin Hazekamp and Mason Wever scored goals for Oakridge late in the first half to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead at the break.

Dylan Sutton got the Tigers one goal closer in the second half when he found the back of the net, but the Eagles’ defense was able to hold on in the final minutes of the game.

Lucas and Victor Contreras each tallied an assist for the Eagles. Spencer Anderson was solid in goal with five saves.

The Eagles are now 1-1-1 on the season and open conference play next Wednesday against the Shelby Tigers.
