Shelby football team stays even with Grant for a quarter, then falls 37-6 in opener

The Shelby football team lost its season opener Friday night against Grant, falling by a score of 37-6.

The game was a continuation of a Thursday matchup that was suspended in the second quarter due to weather conditions.

The scoring was even in the first quarter, with both teams putting six points on the scoreboard. Shelby’s defense struggled in the remaining quarters, giving up 18 unanswered points in the second and 13 in the third. Both teams were scoreless in the fourth.

Jason Hubbard led the Shelby offense, recording 55 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Blake Greene led the receivers with 24 yards.

    You guys need to do a little better job with these game recaps. Grant absolutely dominated that game on the second day. 2 pick sixes and a safety and those were not even mentioned. Do a better job please.
