The Hart soccer team has 11 freshmen on varsity this season and opened the 2019 season on Tuesday with a 3-2 loss to Grant.

In the beginning minutes of the game, freshmen Tony Rayo assisted David Knobel for a header goal, giving Hart a 1-0 lead.

Rigo Rangel also scored in the game for the Pirates in the loss.

SPRING LAKE 8, SPARTA 0 – The Spring Lake soccer team opened up OK-Blue conference play on Tuesday with a 8-0 victory.

Keegan Fritsche, Malachi Mulder and Ben Bush all had two goals for Spring Lake while Sheldon Bunnell and Clayton Glasgow each had one goal.

The Lakeres are now 1-1 overall on the season.

TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL 1, LUDINGTON 0 – Ludington fell to 0-3 overall on the season with a 1-0 nonconference loss to Traverse City Central.

Ludington fell behind 1-0 in the first half and were ultimately outshot 12-7 on the night.

Goalkeeper Kyle Wendt made eight saves on nine shots for the Orioles while Ian Ransom had three saves.

CEDAR SPRING 5, FREMONT 0 – The Fremont soccer season opened up with a rough non-conference loss on Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper Joe Kortge made 13 saves for Fremont in the loss while Ed Hallberg had two saves in a combined effort.
