The West Michigan Whitecaps took two of three games in a series at Great Lakes from Wednesday through Friday.

On Wednesday, the Whitecaps defeated the Loons 7-6 after scoring six runs in the fifth inning.

Andre Lipcius led West Michigan with three hits and two RBIs while catcher Sam McMillan added two hits and two RBIs in the victory.

In a 7-2 loss on Thursday, the Whitecaps were held to two hits with Bryant Packard and Cooper Johnson each having one hit.

On Friday, the Whitecaps scored one run in the sixth inning which ultimately was the difference in a 1-0 victory.

Corey Joyce had the RBI single which was the difference in the West Michigan victory.

Brad Bass was the winning pitcher, tossing seven innings and allowing no runs on five hits while also striking out six hitters.

The Whitecaps are now 44-85 overall on the season and 23-37 in the second half, 14 games behind first place Bowling Green for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

On Saturday the Whitecaps who have been eliminated from postseason contention will open up a four game series versus Fort Wayne with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
