The West Michigan Whitecaps went 2-2 in their home series against Lake County between Saturday and Tuesday.

In the first game on Saturday, the Whitecaps fell 6-3 with Lake County scoring four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a lead for good.

Wenceel Perez, Riley Greene and Andre Lipcius all had two hits to lead the Whitecaps offensive attack in the loss.

On Sunday, Wilkel Hernandez tossed six innings, allowing only two hits and striking out seven in a 4-2 victory.

Lipcius and Daniel Reyes had two hits and one RBI each to lead the offense to victory.

In a 3-2 victory on Monday, Sam McMillan led the Whitecaps with three hits while Bryant Packard and Jack Kenley each had two hits.

On Tuesday in the series finale, the Whitecaps offense was held to only three hits with Perez, Parker Meadows and Packard all having one hit each.

The Whitecaps are now 42-84 overall on the season and 21-36 in the second half, 13 games behind first place Bowling Green in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

The Whitecaps elimination number from being out of contention for post season play is three.

On Wednesday, the Whitecaps will travel to Midland to open up a three game series against Great Lakes with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
