Senior captain Brevin Byrne scored two goals and had an assist, leading the Western Michigan Christian soccer team to an exciting 3-2 victory over state-ranked Lenawee Christian on Friday.

Byrne scored his first goal in the first half, erasing a 1-0 deficit for his team. The score was 1-1 at halftime.

Lenawee Christian scored again in the second half and took a 2-1 lead, but again Byrne got the equalizer for WMC with a long shot from 25 yards out.

The Warriors got the winning goal with a minute left in the game. Byrne sent the ball into the box and Charlie Alfree headed the ball into the net.

Jamison Goorman had a strong game in goal for the Warriors. Perhaps his best moment came with about four minutes left in the game when he leaped and knocked a shot away that would have put Lenawee Christian in the lead.

WMC is now 5-1-2 on the season.
